The Director of the cult Wicker Man film will be discussing his experiences and promoting his great new book Cowboys for Christ instore on Thursday 20th July at 6.30pm. He will be joined by Wicker Man experts Ben Franks and Jonathan Murray. The evening should be busy so get your tickets now!
The event will take place at Ottaker's Books at the Buchanan Galleries

The Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley, North London - The UK's oldest continuously operating cinema - is screening a new print of The Wicker Man on Thursday 3rd August at 6.30pm, and Robin Hardy will be doing a Q&A after the screening and also signing copies of Cowboys for Christ.

Robin Hardy's new novel 'Cowboys For Christ' will be released via Luath Press on 1st May 2006.
The book is derived from Hardy's treatment from his forthcoming film which he has described as 'sort of a sequel' to The Wicker Man. It promises to deal with similar themes to TWM. Filming is due to begin this year on the movie starring none other than Christopher Lee. This is the same project which had previous working titles of 'The Riding Of The Laddie' and 'Mayday'.

The Wigtown Book Festival have organized a number of interesting events over the Mayday bank holiday weekend. These include events featuring Robin Hardy and Ingrid Pitt.
A showing of the film followed by a Wicker Man burning is also scheduled. Check out the link below for details.
As many will know, a Hollywood remake of The Wicker Man featuring Nicholas Cage is due for release later this year. The film does not follow the same themes as the original, and Robin Hardy is already fighting to have his name removed from the credits.
Studio Canal's DVD rights to The Wicker Man are due to expire this year along with the rest of their Warner catalogue. If you don't have a copy of the director's cut, and would like one, it might be a good time to pick it up.
The film may be unavailable on DVD for a while. UK readers should also note that the version given away free with 'The Guardian' newspaper recently was of the lesser, shortened version of the film.
The Crichton campus of The University of Glasgow have recently published a book called 'Constructing The Wicker Man'. The book , more of an academic exercise than a source of film trivia, is available at the link below, where further details can also be read.

Luath Press have a new book out soon too entitled 'The Quest for the Wicker Man'. The book examines the various beliefs that inspired the film. Further details can be read at their website.
