Filming for the Wicker Man took place at various sites around Scotland in the Autumn of 1972.

The vast majority of The Wicker Man's location shooting was done in Dumfries and Galloway.
Kirkcudbright (pronounced Kircoobry ) is a town in Dumfries and Galloway and a number of key scenes from The Wicker Man were filmed here.

Plockton is a small coastal village situated in the Scottish Highlands. Shots of Summerisle harbour and seafront were filmed here. The Plockton buildings seen in the movie are still standing as they were at the time of filming.

These gardens are located near the town of Port Logan and can be reached 14 miles south of Stranraer. Like other Wicker man locations, the gardens lie on the Gulf Stream which enables tropical plant life to prosper here. The gardens served as Lord Summerisle's experimental orchard for filming of The Wicker Man. Much of the footage filmed here did not make it to any existing cut of the film. Ultimately, the gardens feature in a few brief shots in the film.

Stranraer is a coastal town in the south west of Scotland. The town is a major ferrying port and a brief scene of The Wicker Man was filmed here.

Burrowhead lies a couple of miles away from its nearest village, Isle Of Whithorn, and was the place where the famous closing scenes of the film were shot.
Burrowhead is now occupied by a caravan park by the name of 'Burrowhead Holiday Village'.

Gatehouse Of Fleet is a small hamlet within Dumfries and Galloway.
Of particular note to fans of The Wicker Man is the Cally Estate offices which served as the front exterior of The Green Man inn. The buildings opposite the offices can also be seen in the film.

Creetown is a small town in Dumfries And Galloway which lies a few miles west of Kirkcudbright. It plays host to one of The Wicker Man's more famous filming locations.
Interiors of the Ellangowan Hotel bar were used as interiors of The Green Man pub.

St Ninian's Cave can be found three miles to the south of the nearby town of Whithorn.
This is the location where the beach scene was staged.

Whithorn is a town near the south coast of Scotland. A number of scenes from The Wicker Man were shot here.
The most recognizable of its locations is Whithorn Library, which served as Summerisle library in the movie.

Isle Of Whithorn is a village on the south coast of Scotland. Like the neighbouring town of Whithorn, scenes from The Wicker Man were also filmed here.
The castle in Isle Of Whithorn is seen during the house search for Rowan.

Culzean Castle can be found some miles north of The Wicker Man's main filming locations.
The castle can be found on the Ayrshire coast of Scotland and was used for (mainly) exterior shots of Lord Summerisle's castle.

The gardens of Castle Kennedy can be found approximately five miles to the east of Stranraer.
Several key scenes from The Wicker Man were filmed here and the gardens remain largely unchanged since the time of filming.

A few miles east of Creetown is the small village of Anwoth.
Anwoth is clearly one of the most evocative of all The Wicker Man's filming locations.
